Was having issues trying to launch DELL PowerEdge iDRAC v6 Virtual Console in Google Chrome.
Instead of opening Java based remote access client, Chrome would simply try to save a file called someting like:
viewer.jnlp(82.157.215.60@0@idrac-YT877TM,+PowerEdge+T310,+User-demo-user@9584712254699
Workaround is actually very simple:
Ensured Java was installed. Check the security permissions for the IP address of the CIMC. Ensure Java plug-in was enabled. Ensure the security permissions for Java within IE was set to allow. What I finally realized was that when I installed Java earlier in the week via the Java website, it automatically installed the 64-bit version. These are relatively new cards with the DRAC 6 being in the 11th Generation of Dell PowerEdge Servers and the DRAC 7 being in the 12th Generation of Dell PowerEdge Servers. You will usually not have any issues with Java 7 if you keep the DRAC Firmware up to date with these DRAC Cards. If you don’t, then you might run into Java issues. Click on the Disconnect button on the DRAC console to close this Window. Next Click the Connect button again, When prompted to install and run the Virtual.

- Save the file to the desktop
- Rename it removing everything after viewer.jnlp
- Double click the file to open
Providing you have Java installed, this should launch the iDRAC remote access client.
The file will only work for certain period of time, if you need to re-connect to the server later, simply complete the same steps again.

disclaimer: I am 1.5 years into IT professionally, have a homelab setup with R710's and 2 microsoft certs. That's it.
Not sure if any of you folks ran into this yesterday, but Webroot pushed out some kind of update that totally borked Server 2008 R2 machines after reboot, just put them in an unrecoverable loop. We had 3 servers go down hard after being rebooted at 3AM for routine updates. These servers are 3-5 hours from our office but do have a tech down there that can be on site. We asked him to head out. Also our largest client.
After virtualizing them with storagecraft, we did some research and learned about the webroot issue. The fix is literally renaming a file in system32drivers. They're all Poweredge T420's, so they have iDRAC 7. But it wasn't ever setup or configured on 2 of the 3. On the 3rd, we were able to instantly get into the console and go to town renaming the file. All good after a reboot.

For the other 2, with the help of the on-site guy, we were able to setup iDRAC, log into it, I was able to find the temporary 30-day enterprise license, assign it (in firefox, the stupid browse thing didn't show up in IE), update the firmware, get into the console, get into the recovery console on the machine, only to find out in the command prompt we can't see any drives, diskpart was empty.
At this point my bosses decided to send a tech out from our office. 4 hours away. So she starts going.
Okay, well maybe the RAID drivers didn't load. Found the H710 package, extracted the drivers, used some program I found called folder2iso to make an iso of the drivers that I could mount in iDRAC virtual console, used drvload to install the drivers, it saw the RAID now, renamed the stupid file and rebooted the server. Once it came fully up, we recalled the tech and I was able to use iDRAC and the above on the other servers with the help of the remote tech setting iDRAC up.
I feel like I had a beautiful mind moment and all of this shit just came together. It was awesome and I just wanted to share. I know there has to be an easier way to do this but the fact that I figured it out made me warm and fuzzy. And then the bourbon helped.
