Apr 12, 2016. DSC used to advise (back in the Classic Series days) that any board sent back with installer lockout enabled, and that was the only problem, they'd unlock it for a dealer and for a fee. I get the Telco relay clicking upon power-up on a PC1616 - Does this mean it's bricked, even if I can get the installer code?

Hey guys,

So long story short. I signed up with ADT upon moving into my first house. Guy came, but came from a company named Defenders. We had him install sensors and the DSC panel anyways. After research, turns out defenders is a 1 star company in our area so we requested a refund and decided not to pursue with them. A 'supervisor' came to our house to take the equipment and pursuade us to stay but we turned it down. He took the radio from the panel & a glass breaker but was so busy being salty, he didn't take sensors, the panel, or our other equipment.

So instead of ordering a whole new system with a diff company, decided to do self monitoring with what I have. So I ordered more sensors and detectors from Amazon and I added to them to the panel. I ordered the module and sim card to go with it. Prior to this I was able to at minimum login to the ADT pulse app to see what was insralled, but now I can't even login at all. So I have a few questions mainly where I can control my alarm via smartphone.

Is there any way to still use the ADT pulse app?

Is there an alternative to the app?

What is the best way to still monitor/control from a smartphone, free or cheap? Doesn't matter. Smartphone is my main thing at this point. Visual studio 2010 professional free download for windows 8 64 bit.

Background:
We quit ADT monitoring after our contract was fulfilled, sometimes I use it as a local system but I prefer my own IP cameras and we have a great family guard dog.

Assuming your system was subsidized at sign-up, you should own it when you finish your term contract (eg; 36 months).
Recently, I switched to VoIP and I had my phone line disconnected. On the day it happened, the panel beeped and I got a trouble light, alphanumeric=unable to contact ADT.
In order to disable the warning, I would normally need to do this: *8 5010 015 7 ### for TLM disable, then power cycle the panel.
Problem is, the installer code is not default 5010 or a handful of other possible default codes, it is a local ADT code.
1. I contact my local ADT, they will not release any installer codes. Fair enough, but if it's the same across my neighbourhood, that's poor security should it be leaked. Instead they say they can help me power down the system. I think why? I own it now.
2. I email for a tech to come by and disable the TLM/reset the code. Answer is no, 'unfortunately for liability purposes we cannot have technicians attend the home of inactive ADT customers'.
3. I email again, this time escalated to ADTCanada to pay for the service which would make me a customer by definition. They say no, citing the quotation above. (I previously asked why a sales rep can come in, check security points, etc and 'apparently' they are under a different policy).
4. Last try to contact and resolve, I call and inquire if I had 'active' monitoring, how much would it be? They say probably a couple of hundred negotiated with the installer. Ridiculous, for less than a minute of work.
Now, if I really want to tinker with the system and do it myself, I can physically jumper the main panel in the basement box, but this requires re-programming my whole house and could take a few hours.
The upside is I set my own installer code, and I can get it to call my cell or any number if it goes off, and have it work in conjunction with my cameras.. not for the technically challenged.
My recommendation to you is to figure out if you have a default installer code, or obtain it while still on contract. 6321, 5555, 5010 are common codes for the DSC832.
Because you will NOT be able to easily use the system with another company even though you OWN it. It's how ADT attempts to keep inactive systems tethered to ADT.
And while you're at it, if you still want 3rd party monitoring, check out TMC for better monitoring prices.
This is how you want to do business ADT?
