Aug 09, 2012  My 250GB Hard drive inside of my 7 year old Dynex enclosure stop working. I was not sure the problem was the enclosure or the hard drive. I ordered this newer Dynex enclosure to find it out. It was a snap! No issue or complication what so ever with working with my Mac. Now my hard drive is alive and well in a new nicer body. I recently purchased a Dynex USB external enclosure (model: DX-HDEN10) for my 40GB hard drive that I had lying around. After mounting and plugging it into place, I connected it to my computer but Windows did not recognize it. I do not know if this is because of Windows XP or the HDD enclosure itself.

3.5 Inch Hard Drive Enclosure

Hi guys,
While I was over in Canada on holiday, I purchased 2 Dynex DX-HDEN10 3.5' HDD Enclosures.
Didn't have a chance to test them while I was over, and so took the risk and brought them back.
Set them up tonight, connected everthing ok, plugged everything in, switched on and . . . nothing!
The light is coming on, so there is power going. And I checked that it can handle 110v and 240v (it can). I've got a Canadian -> UK plug adapter so it fits the sockets here.
My First try was with a blank Hard Drive. I've also tried another Hard Drive I have which has files on it (was using it as a slave on my desktop, but not anymore), but even with that I get nothing. Have tried another USB cable just in case.
I'm running XP Home with SP2 - just don't know what to do next. Searched google for a while, but nothing came up. The manual for the Kit is pretty useless. Just says that you don't need drivers for XP :
It does have a section on partitioning - but i don't want my drive partitioned and the instructions need the HD to be recognised in the 1st place.
Both drives I tested with have the jumpers removed - ie. set to slave (yes i checked the settings on each drive first) - if that helps to know in any way.
Any ideas?
