Softies, Plushies, Stuffies, or Stuffed Animals. Any name will do. This collection of The Cutest Free Stuffed Animal Patterns will put a smile on your face. There’s something for everyone.
Best of all: Sewing softies is an excellent way to make a good use of those sewing scraps and an ideal project for sewing beginners.
1. Nessie
I really don’t know a child on the planet who wouldn’t want a stuffie that they could ride. I could see any of my grandkids sitting on this while pretending to (fill in the blank).
2. Penguins

I believe penguins are social animals, so I recommend creating a flock. This pattern also uses fat quarters ~ in case you have a few laying around.
3. Sea Turtle
I love the expression on this sea turtle softie’s face. It’s like he’s peacefully swimming around in the ocean. This would be an excellent addition to a child’s room that has a beach or sea theme. Like the penguins, I believe there should be a collection.
4. Stuffed Bunny
I couldn’t create a collection of stuffed animals without including at least one bunny. And I particularly love this one because it has a pocket!

5. Pete the Bear
I am a huge fan of Abby Glassenberg’s work. She creates some of the most adorable plushie patterns around (that are for sale!). This bear is one of her freebies named Pete!

6. Casey the Crab
I told you I was a fan. I had to also include Abby’s crab Casey because he has such an adorable expression on his face. I also love that he’s made out of fleece ~ making him super soft and cuddly.
7. Stuffed Snakes
Most plushies tend to be more for girls, but these snakes have boy written all over them! Did you notice that they are made from minky cloth. Very clever, indeed.
8. Endearing Elephants

These adorable, endearing elephants with their braided tails just couldn’t be cuter. I see them made up in a ga-zillion different fabrics. This is totally a scrap buster pattern.
9. Super Hero
Perfect for any child who is in love with super heroes. Think about how easy it would be to personalize this pattern.
10. Felt Koala
Everyone needs a pocket friend. This adorable koala is made from felted wool. Don’t you just love his little eucalyptus leaves? How absolutely perfect.
11. Pocket Kitties
Create a very special gift when you sew a stuffed friend for someone with one of these doll sewing patterns. Choose from a range of skill levels, doll styles, and price tags (including many free patterns).

Cuddly Mini Doll Tutorial
A lovey is a cross between a small blanket and a stuffed animal or doll. They're comforting to little ones because they're easy to cuddle with.
